The recently opened Princes Highway Hallam Bypass brings Pakenham even closer to Melbourne, with only two sets of traffic lights between it and the city. A trip to the city via Princes or Monash freeways in non-peak traffic takes about 40 minutes.
Pakenham railway station is just a few minutes drive away, with an additional Pakenham railway station due to open by 2008 with frequent commuter rail services providing easy access. The 2005-2006 Victorian State Budget includes $25 million to consult, plan and develop works for appropriate transport options in the Dandenong corridor. The government says it is Melbourne’s fastest growing residential corridor. |
